On this past Saturday I photographed the wedding of Karen Burnett and Koen Vanstaen at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in Plymouth; Karen contacted me earlier in the year to say that she was looking for a photographer in the Plymouth area and found my website, loved my images and would I consider shooting her wedding? It’s always hugely flattering to be approached for work that I don’t market myself to – especially with so many specialist wedding photographers in Plymouth – and my calendar was open so we hooked it up. The wedding was especially interesting as the bride’s family was Cornish while the groom’s was Belgian (the couple met while both at University in Plymouth, hence the Plymouth wedding location) giving the marriage a wonderful cross-cultural theme, with national flags distributed to the respective guests and local customs from both families integrated into the celebrations and enjoyed by all. I was only on location for three hours or so with a lot to cover during that time including both documentary style images of the ceremony/early reception and portraits of the bride, groom, and family. Above is one of the portraits from the balcony at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, while below is an individual portrait of Karen taken on the Plymouth Hoe, and one of the smaller Belgian guests at the reception. Part of what I enjoy so much about being a photographer is the diversity of work and clients that I meet, and the success of the shoot has me thinking about dropping one or two wedding images into my on-line portfolio with a view to picking up a few more wedding assignments in the future, so if you’re planning a wedding and like my work then drop me a line.
